Here comes the RED ONE Digital Camera!
There is no need to explain the necessity of a cutting-edge digital camera for movies today! If you do not have the most advanced digital camera to capture the visual effects which are at the forefront of modern digital revolution, you must create these visual effects in post production, which can burn millions of rupees from the movie budget. But if you have a few practical techniques and skills to incorporate with a good camera and its possibilities, a filmmaker can create wonders on screen!
Here comes the king of all movie cameras -- RED ONE Digital Cinema, which can shoot Ultra High Definition 4K images that have five times higher resolution than all previous HD cameras. This camera is unique because of the ultra high definition quality, dynamic range and file output in RAW format that is essentially digital film.
RED ONE camera was introduced by the Red Digital Cinema Company in 2007 and exclusively used in many Hollywood movies like Lord Of The Rings, Wanted, The Argentine and Guerrilla. But it has never gone beyond the boundaries of Hollywood. Now, the good news is that this camera is now going to be used in India for the first time!
Publicists claim that new Tamil film Achamundu Achamundu, to be directed by Arun Vaidyanathan, is being shot with RED ONE HD 4K Camera. The movie can be released in 35 mm as well as wide-screen after being edited completely on nonlinear digital editing systems. The film which stars Prasanna, Sneha and John Shea, will be dubbed into 13 international languages for global TV and cinema audience after its initial opening in Tamil.
Shooting on a RED ONE camera at 4K allows for delivery in several format resolutions from the same video shot. The output can be 4K, 2K, HD 1080, HD 720, SD and even vertical HD for digital signage. It sports a 12MP Mysterium image processor that shoots 4Kx2K native resolution with 12-bit colour (66dB or 11 f-stop dynamic range). The camera can shoot movies in 4000p, i.e., 12 Megapixels at 60 frames per second! Wow!
Let's hope RED ONE's introduction to Indian cinema will provide a global platform for our films and help the industry enter additional markets and improve its content.
