Today is the birthday of Kollywood's macho man and six-pack hero, Sarathkumar. Galatta.com takes pride in recalling its long-term association with the actor and joins his fans to wish him a very happy birthday.

Sarathkumar entered into films as villain and Kan Simittum Neram was his debut film. After a few films, his well-built physique, expressive eyes, heroic stunts and stance made him a hero. Paalaivana Paravaigal marked Sarath's debut as hero. After a string of hits, Sarath emerged as Kollywood's favourite action hero. Further, his roles in films such as Suriya Vamsam, Nattaamai, Aiyya, Pachaikili Muthucharam added dignity and variety to his career. In fact, Sarathkumar must be the top contemporary hero who has enacted many double roles.
In addition to being an actor, Sarath also worked as a responsible politician. He heads his own party, has been contesting in the State elections and also held the prestigious position of a member of the Rajya Sabha. This year, he was again elected President of the Nadigar Sangam.
On the career front, Sarath's Malayalam debut Pazhassi Raja, in which he has co-starred with Mammootty, has raised lots of expectations. Jagghubhai, directed by K.S. Ravikumar, is also on the cards. Most recently, another feather got added to his cap. This one of course comes from the accomplishment of his daughter Varalaxmi, who made her much-awaited debut in the field of entertainment through a musical Mamma Mia that opened at one of Chennai's popular stages last week.
