Happy Birthday Kajol!

Versatile Kajol Devgan celebrates her 34th birthday today. She was born in Mumbai to actor Tanuja, a Maharashtrian and film producer Shomu Mukherjee, a Bengali.

Kajol mader her debut with Bekhudi in 1992 but it was Baazigar opposite Shahrukh Khan that brought her under the spotlight. The chemistry of this on screen pair gave many more hits: Karan Arjun, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and the biggest hit of all times, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. Kajol made her debut in Tamil through Minnsara Kanavu for which she won the best actress Filmfare (South) award.

Kajol gave up films when she married Ajay Devgan in 1999. The couple is blessed with a daughter, Nysa. But not being able to stay away from films for long, she returned with Fanaa. The movie was a hit, yet Kajol has been careful about signing many films. She will be soon seen with her favourite co-star Shahrukh Khan in My Name is Khan, a film made by her close friend and film maker Karan Johar.

Apart form acting, Kajol works with an NGO Shiksha, a charity devoted to the education of destitute children.
