Well, the first quarter of 2013 doesn't seems to be fruitful for the Tamil film industry. Of the 44 Tamil released this year, only two managed to succeed.

Amidst all controversies, Kamal Haasan's spy thriller grossed over Rs. 150 crore, including the satellite rights. The film was made on a whopping budget of Rs. 95 crores. Apart from Vishwaroopam, only Santhanam's Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya' (KLTA) managed to cross the mark. Despite mixed reviews, the film won the hearts of the audience here. Many big budget flicks such as Mani Ratnam's Kadal, Karthi's Alex Pandian, Bala's Paradesi, Ameer's Aadhi Bhagavan, Arya's Settai failed to create the magic.

Smaller flicks like Haridas, Vathikuchi and Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga managed to make a mark at the box office with a decent run.
