Directors' union revises wages

The Tamil Nadu Film Directors' Union on Sunday announced revised wages for directors and associate and assistant directors.
According to a release from the union, the director should be paid Rs. 1,000 a day if the shooting is held in the city and Rs. 1,200 for outstation shoots.
For a joint director, the wages are Rs. 500 within the city and Rs. 600 outside, an associate director should be paid Rs. 400 and Rs. 500; the first assistant director should get Rs. 300 and Rs. 400; and the second assistant director Rs. 200 and Rs. 300 respectively.
The union also said that the director should be given Rs. 10 lakh as salary, if the release runs into complications. In such a case, a joint director should be paid Rs. 4 lakh, the associate director Rs. 3 lakh, the first assistant director Rs. 2 lakh and the second assistant director Rs. 1 lakh.
Directors should not work on a film without entering into an agreement on wage and work conditions and a copy should be given to the directors' union, it urged.
