Director Saba and multi-tasking
It is common for actors to act in more than a film simultaneously. But have you ever heard of a director who directed three different films simultaneously (not including bilingual or trilingual films)?! Surprising, is it not?! But we have a director who is blessed with such multitasking skills to direct three films at a time – S.D. Saba!
Saba is directing A Aa E Ee, Maa, and Pathinaru (also referred to as Pathinaru) simultaneously. It might seem a daunting task for us, but for Saba it is not. The talented director says, “I don’t see any difficulty in this. It was all well-arranged. A Aa E Ee was getting over and the complete script, screenplay and schedule were ready for Maa and Pathinaru. We planned well. And I have assistant directors helping me out. So I don’t find it difficult.”
Though he downplays it modestly, it is really surprising to see a director work on three films simultaneously. A Aa E Ee might be in post-production stage but it still requires its director for editing. It is heard that Saba edits A Aa E Ee during nights and after a few hours of sleep, he is ready on the sets of Maa and Pathinaru – completely fresh and sharp; so sharp that he takes care of shot continuity himself!
AVM production A Aa E Ee, starring Monica and Navdeep, will release in December. And that will give Saba some leisure, but not for long because he has agreed to direct Yuvanshankar Raja’s maiden production venture, whose filming begins in February 2009,when Maa and Pathinaru might be in their third round of filming!
Maa stars Bhumika (also referred to as Bhoomika), Srikanth and Prithviraj; Pathinaru stars Mirchi Shiva and Madhu Shalini. The upcoming Yuvanshankar Raja’s film too will star Mirchi Shiva in the lead.
