Dhaam Dhoom’s anti-piracy campaign

Video piracy is a potential peril that could bring down the entire film industry if unchecked. It is this nemesis that Dhaam Dhoom fears and it is taking stringent actions to protect itself from it.

Suryaraj Kumar, MD of Mediaone, which produces Dhaam Dhoom and Jayam Ravi have joined hands with Tamil Nadu Anti-Piracy Campaign Board headed by film producer K. Rajan to fight this menace. Recently, the Dhaam Dhoom anti-piracy unit convened a press meet to let everyone know what it is doing to protect itself against video piracy.

Mediaone managing director Suryaraj Kumar, who spoke first in the press meet, said that he wanted to make Dhaam Dhoom as big as possible and show the world what film producers from Tamil Nadu are capable of. Now that the film has come out very well, he has a responsibility to protect it from perilous forces like video piracy. He requested anyone coming across acts of video piracy – like sales of pirated CDs or DVDs of Dhaam Dhoom or illegal broadcast of the film on local cable channels and other such acts – to report to a special anti-piracy cell that will operate 24/7. He said that there are about 10 dedicated phone lines for this purpose.

Anti-Piracy campaign president K. Rajan said that this is a large-scale operation and is not to be taken lightly. He said he joined this campaign by Dhaam Dhoom unit on Jayam Ravi and Suryaraj Kumar’s request. He said that strict action will be taken against anyone who indulges in video piracy and that they have sought the help of Tamil Nadu police in this matter. He also cited examples of recent arrests of those involved in video piracy rackets in Madurai and Theni. He also announced that a special task force has been assigned to prevent pirated CDs from being smuggled into Tamil Nadu from Pondicherry, where video piracy is rampant.

When Jayam Ravi spoke, he urged everyone to watch Dhaam Dhoom or any new release in theatres and not on pirated video CDs. He requested everyone to call up the special Dhaam Dhoom anti-piracy unit's phone line to report any incidents of video piracy. He also said that the callers’ identity will always be kept secret.
