Devi Sri Prasad congratulates Rahman!

Devi Sri Prasad needs no introduction. He is one of the most acclaimed and celebrated music directors Kollywood has got. 'Rama Rama' in his music for the recent Vijay-starrer Villu has become an anthem among youngsters.

Devi Sri Prasad, like everybody else in Kollywood,is thoroughly happy for Rahman and his win at the Oscars. In an exclusive interview to Galatta.com, he says,

"I find no words to describe my happiness. The only talk that has been going on in my studio for the past few days is his victory and it is absolutely like a celebration for all of us. On the announcement day, though basically not apooja-type, I somehow found myselfnear the pooja room and for a second prayed for him like, 'Win it!'I am really happy today because it is a recognition for the music which the masses can enjoy and relate easily to. The feeling is not exclusive for me;he has won the love and affection of people all over the globe and it is their prayers that have worked for his success at the Oscars. This day and its glory will never be forgotten byIndians."

About Rahman

"I remember a few touching moments of meeting with him. Once we met at the Filmfare awards function. I had got it for Telugu and Sir had bagged it for Tamil. I performed there live for one of my compositions and after the awards ceremony, when both of us were on the podium to pose for photographs, he grabbed a private moment and said, 'Enna dance kalakitta. Super!' Hearing it, I was thrilled to the core. The next day, whenI met Gautham Menon on a flight, he too recalled Rahman Sir's comments. After a few months, whenI met Rahman Sirwith singer Mano in an audio release function, Rahman recalled my performance again. I still can'tget overthe 'jolly good' streak thatI witnessed in him that day because all of us know about his uber-cool personality and humility!"

Rahman glory

"Today, Rahman is one celebrity all Indians want to meet and shake hands with. And he lives just down my block yet so far away in terms of genius," adds Devi Sri Prasad. " I am looking forward to meeting him on March 1st in the felicitation ceremony. IfI get a chance,I will congratulate him personally."

Wishes for Rahman

"There is much more to do for him at the National and international level. I wish him all the very best and i am waiting to meet him."
