Ever since the announcement of Rajinikanth's animation flick Kochadaiyaan, there was a widespred speculation about the female lead. After much hype and rumours, it has now been confirmed that Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone is the lucky girl to star opposite Superstar. Interestingly Deepika was earlier signed to play one of the leads in Rajni's much hyped Rana, to be directed by K.S. Ravikumar. But the film was latter shelved temporarily due to Superstar's ill health.

Rajinkanth's younger daughter Soundarya, who will also direct and co-produce Kochadaiyaan, confirmed the news in her twitter page. "Guys. Deepika padukone confirmed to play appa s pair in Kochadaiyaan :) great to have you back with us," she wrote.

Kochadaiyaan also has a huge starcast which includes yesteryear actress Shobana, Aadhi, Sarathkumar, Bollywood star Jackie Shroff, Sneha (as Rajni's sister) and Malayalam star Prithviraj.
