Dayanidhi Azhagiri's Cloud 9 acquires Paiyya

Kollywood's prominent production and distribution house Dayanidhi Azhagiri's Cloud 9 Movies has acquired the release rights of Karthi's forthcoming Paiyya (also spelt as Paiya), directed by Lingusamy, with the gorgeous Tamannaah as heroine.

Paiyya is an urban story that depicts some interesting events happenings in the lives of a pair of lovers. The movie was shot in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai. Music by Yuvanshankar Raja, released early in November, is already a runaway hit. The director has also assured that Karthi will appear in a never-seen-before look. Cinematography is by Madhi while Anthony takes care of editing. Kanal Kannan is in-charge of stunts.

Initially, the film was supposed to hit screens on Pongal day, but got delayed as Karthi’s Aayirathil Oruvan was being released. Then the film was postponed to February, and now again to April.

Cloud 9's Kollywood magic started with the release of Varanam Aayiram in 2008 followed by their successful debut production venture Thamizh Padam. Now let's hope that Paiyya repeats the magic too. The production house is currently producing Thoonga Nagaram.
