CM Karunanidhi lays foundation for Kalaignar Nagaram

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi laid the foundation stone of Kalaignar Nagar, a housing project spread over 96 acres of land in Payanoor in Kancheepuram district for the welfare of the film fraternity.

Besides the political crowd, the film fraternity was represented by Sarathkumar, President Nadigar Sangam; Ramnarayanan, President Producers' Council, director Bharathi Raja, President Directors' Council, director K. Balachander, producer AVM Saravanan and actors Rajinikanth and Khushbu. President, Film Employees' Federation of South India V.C. Kuganathan and President of Federation of Small Screen Technicians Viduthalai also participated.

Also showing their support to the initiative were director Dasari Narayana Rao from Telugu cinema, Mammootty who represented the Malayalam film fraternity and Jeetendra from Hindi cinema.
