Citizens for Change: Join us on Sunday, December 7th

Since our independence, we have been grappling with an identity crisis. We now seek a new identity that supercedes religion, gender and geographical boundaries and works towards a stronger, happier, more prosperous and united India.

As a first step, we wanted to show an expression of solidarity which is the least that we, as responsible citizens and Chennaiites, can do in this dark hour of terrorism and hatred.

As an expression of our concern towards the departed, injured and affected persons at the hands of the terrorists during the recent attack in Mumbai and as an expression of our solidarity with the security forces that valiantly fought for India, we, as citizens of Chennai and Tamil Nadu, wish to pledge our support and feelings for our fellow Indians.

We therefore� plan to have a gathering of the citizens of Chennai at the Marina Beach behind�Mahatma Gandhi Statue on Sunday, 7th December ’08 between 9.30 a.m. and 11.00 a.m.� We will all assemble there, sign a memorandum for peace, observe a minute of silence, offer floral tributes, light candles for the all the brave men and women who lost their lives in the Mumbai terror attack and then take a pledge against Terror and Violence.

We know that “changes” to the “system” can’t be done overnight but as a fledgling organization, we want to be able to take CITIZENS’ causes to the people who are needed to make the CHANGE happen. For more details, visit www.citizensforchange.in.
