A.R. Rahman launches Nokia 5800 XpressMusic

A.R. Rahman, who has been associated with Nokia for several years now,�launched the latest Nokia mobile phone in the XpressMusic�series.�The phone, which was launched worldwide�last year, was launched in rest of India a couple of days back. Today, the phone was launched in South India.

The highlight of this phone is its touch technology combined with all the features required for a music phone. A.R. Rahman has composed an entire album 'Connections' for Nokia which is preloaded in this phone and three other models in the XpressMusic series.

The album has 9 tracks, each with a distinct flavour of India,�yet with a global appeal. The video of the song 'Jiya se Jiya' was screened�on the occasion. Rahman has collaborated with Sivamani for this track. Another song 'Kural', based on the Thirukural, for which Rahman has collaborated with MTV youth icon, singer Blaaze, was played for the first time. Blaaze was also present at the event. The album includes�other tracks including 'Mann Chandre', 'Mylapore Blues'�and 'Mosquito'.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. T.S. Sridhar, Regional General Manager, South, Nokia India, said that the touch feature of the phone turns 'user interface' into 'human interface'. This is exactly in tune with Nokia's motto�of 'Connecting People'. He also said that launching the phone in Chennai was very special as this was the city of a very close friend of the Nokia family, A.R. Rahman.

The day is even more special as A.R. Rahman celebrates his birthday today. The music maestro said that the celebrations were low key due to Moharram (a time of mourning for Muslims).
