Amitabh to promote Kerala Tourism

Legendary Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan has accepted the Kerala government's request to become the state's brand ambassador to promote tourism, state Tourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said on Thursday. One of the most sought-after icons in advertising, the actor has earlier been seen in the same role for Gujarat Tourism.

The new development was a fallout of his last visit to the state, when he expressed his desire to endorse the visual beauty of Kerala. Hearing this, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan sent a letter to Amitabh via ace cinematographer Santhosh Sivan, who is in the close contact with the actor.

"Yesterday, I got his letter stating he is willing to become the brand ambassador and is prepared to start a dialogue. I have asked the Tourism director to have a discussion in this regard," said Balakrishnan.
