Tollywood bandh called off
The proposed"Tollywood Bandh" on March 19 (Friday) declared by Movie Artists’ Association (MAA) to express solidarity with producer Yalamanchi Ravichand's fast-unto-death against film piracy, has been called off after the government has given an assurance to take stringent action against the offenders.
Andhra Pradesh Information and Public Relations minister J. Geeta Reddy announced that the state government would soon swoop down on piracy and take suitable measures. The minister saidthey would set up a separate cell for anti-piracy within 45 days and all video renting parlours will be regularized with licenses to track down the piracy and eliminate it.
MAA president Muralimohan lauded thd brave initiative undertaken by producer Yalamanchili Ravichand to protest against piracy. He said this small producer had single-handedly shaken the entire film industry even without a tent to sit under! Meanwhile, Yalamanchili Ravichandar also called off his proposed fast as he is satisfied with the Government response.
