Sun TV Network Q4 net rises 24.66%
Sun TV Network, one of the largest television broadcasters in India, posted a rise of 24.66% in net profit to Rs. 1,140.1 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2009 as compared to Rs. 914.5 million in the corresponding period last year.
The total income of the company grew 10.14% to Rs. 2,918.7 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2009 as compared to Rs. 2649.9 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2008.
At its meeting held on June 24, the board of directors of the company has recommended a final dividend of 20% (i.e. Rs. 1 per equity share of face value of Rs. 5). This is in addition to the interim dividend of Rs. 1.50 (30%) declared at the board meeting held on January 27, 2009.
Chennai-based Sun TV Network, which recently appointed Ajay Vidyasagar as CEO with immediate effect, broadcasts 20 television channels in the four South Indian languages—Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam—and also operates 42 FM radio stations across India.
