Scary villains? Not any more!

Villains earlier had a patent to look scary and gruesome. Their appearance on screen would make viewers clutch the hands of the person sitting next to them. These hated villains used to send shivers down our spines and gave some nightmares! But now, villains also are fast changing. Many directors are now casting handsome young men in negative roles. Some of these sauve polished villains include Prakashraj, Rahul Dev, Arjun Rampal, Karthik Kumar and even some well-known heroes like Suriya and Vijay who are willing to experiment with negative shades, without bothering much about their current image!

So do good-looking villains add to the value of a film? Do they make the film more attractive?

Many heroes have decided to accept different roles with anti-hero angles and shades of grey in character. Portraying an alien character with a dark secret can be truly challenging. Milind Soman in Pachakili Muthucharam is an example of an actor who decided to be different by appearing as a hard-hearted bad man.

Well, the good and the bad have always co-existed! But when audiences seem to love these bad guys, any actor should be happy in such roles!
