Sarathkumar’s daughter to enter films

Dr. Varalakshmi, daughter of Sarathkumar, is making her film debut in Gemini Film Circuit and Shanaya Telefilms’ Poda Podi, which has Simbu in the lead.

She is an MBA and a Ph.D. who studied at Edinburgh University in London. She also received formal training in acting in Anupam Kher’s acting school. This immensely talented young lady is also a trained ballet and salsa dancer. Her role in Poda Poda (also spelt as Pooda Poodi) gives her ample opportunity to showcase her dancing skills. This is the reason she and her dad Sarathkumar thought Poda Podi woule be the perfect launchpad for her film career. This beautiful lady, who has been deluged with film offers for a long time, decided to wait until she got a good script. Now, she is happy with the scope offered by the script of Poda Podi.

Shanaya Telefilms is producing thisbig-budget film in collaboration with Gemini Film Circuit. Shanaya Telefilms have already produced two famous films in Bollywood – Champion (starring Sunny Deol and Manisha Koirala) and Supari (starring Nandita Das and Uday Chopra) – and is now producing a big budget film Kabhi Bhi Kaheen Bhi starring Diya Mirza and Dino Morea.

The shooting of Poda Podi will commence in September 2008. The film will be completely shot in Canada. Vignesh Shiva, who worked as an assistant to many frontline directors of Kollywood, is directing this film; he also has written the story, dialogues and screenplay.
