Paiyya confirmed on April 2

Karthi-Tamannaah's much awaited Tamil urban story Paiyya (also spelt Paiya), directed by Lingusamy under the banner of Thiruppathi Brothers and Cloud Nine, will grace screens on April 2, the makers have confirmed.

Distributed in Tamil Nadu by Dhayanidhi Alagiri, the film has bagged a clean ‘U’ certificate by the censors without any cuts. The makers are planning to remake Paiyya in Telugu (with Ram Charan Teja) and Hindi after the release of the Tamil version.

Shot in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai, Paiyya is about some interesting events happenings in the lives of a pair of lovers. Initially, the film was supposed to hit screens on Pongal day, but got delayed as Karthi’s Aayirathil Oruvan was being released, then the film was postponed to February, and now again to April. There were also rumours that the delay was due to the financial problems of the producers.
