Landmark day for Kollywood
Touching a milestone on August 12 is World Star Kamal Haasan. But the golden boy and pride of Kollywood played it down with his refrain that his innings has just begun and the learning process continues. Precisely this day 50 summers ago, Kalathur Kannamma got released where the child Kamal stole many hearts with his innocence while mouthing the lines of the song 'Ammavum Neeye Appavum Neeye'.
Traversing the filmi path over the years, Kamal has been rendering meaning, colour and character to each of his roles in over 150 films in all languages. Super Star Rajinikanth slipped into nostalgia recalling the `Ninaithale Inikkum' days where the two mega stars came together. “He is an enigma for perfection, digging deep in his reserves to create each character he plays,” Rajini said in his unstinted praise.
Ace director K. Balachander, instrumental in giving author-backed roles to Kamal in movies like Nizhal Nizhamagirathu and Manmadha Leelai. saw Kamal as an institution setting his own goals.
Nursing a tinge of regret in not able to release Unakkul Oruvan on August 12 as planned, Kamal has requested the members of his fans association to organise blood donation camps on the special day.
In this golden moment for Kollywood, the fans of Kamal plans to release a music album on August 30.
