Lakshmi in Unnai Pol Oruvan
After a gap of more than two decades, veteran actress Lakshmi will play a role alongside versatile actor Kamal Haasan in his new bilingual film Unnai Pol Oruvan (Ee Nadu in Telugu), a remake of the critically-acclaimed Hindi film A Wednesday.
Lakshmi has played Kamal's love interest in many films in the past. Known for her stunning performances in Jeans (1998) and Padaiyappa (1999), the actress reportedly plays a high level government official in Unnai Pol Oruvan.
Produced simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu by Kamal Haasan's production banner Raj Kamal and UTV Productions, the film has almost completed its shooting. Kamal Haasan plays the role of Naseeruddin Shah in the original. Venkatesh plays the role of Anupam Kher, Mohanlal will be essaying the same role in the Tamil version.
The story of A Wednesday revolves around the Mumbai police commissioner who reminisces about the most challenging case in his career and how he tackled it. Kamal Haasan's daughter Shruthi Haasan, known singer and actress, is the music director. Oscar-winner Resul Pookutty will create sound effects.
