Karthik and Prabhu’s roles in Mani Ratnam’s Ravana

Recently, it was reported that Karthik had arrived in Salakudi to participate in Ravana’s (unsure title; also referred to as Ashokavanam) shooting. Now we bring you more updates: It is heard that Karthik and Prabhu, two of Mani’s favourite heroes, will play vital roles in his film which is loosely based upon the grand epic of India – Ramayan.

Reports say that Prabhu and Karthik’s roles will be similar to Ramayan’s Vibheeshan and Hanuman respectively. But please do not expect mythological Hanuman’s superhero physical strength in Karthik’s character; Karthik will play an extremely humble and compassionate forest officer who goes out of his way to help the hero of the film – just like Hanuman of Ramayan took so much pain to help Ram.

Well, here is how the characters of Mani Ratnam’s film (Tamil version) match with those of Ramayan: Aishwarya Rai – Sita; Vikram – Ram; Prithviraj – Ravana; Priyamani – Shoorpanaka; Prabhu – Vibheeshan; Karthik – Hanuman.

It is unknown what role Mani Ratnam has given his wife Suhasini, who is also said to be acting in his film!

Though there are three versions of this film's storyline in circulation, we do not want to give away any of them as it would spoil the excitement.

Well, with every piece of information about this film released, the curiosity levels are soaring higher and it is becoming hard to wait for the film!
