Celebs join for a noble cause
Many celebrities from Chennai gathered at The Park, Chennai a couple of days back to be a part of GiveIndia's latest initiative. GiveIndia is a not-for-profit organization in India that aims to channel and provide resources to Non-Governmental Organizations across India.
Conceived in 1999 by IIM-A graduate Venkat Krishnan, it is run and managed by a dedicated team of professionals who are passionate about ensuring that donations for the underprivileged reach the right people at the right time.
The new initiative is called Joy of Giving Week, which is to be held from September 27-October 3, 2009. This will be India's largest social movement that aims to improve general awareness regarding health and education.
Suriya and Shriya Saran among the celebrities who were present from the tinsel world, and Suriya has decided to use a part of his salary for philanthropic activities.
It is really nice to see celebs such as Suriya and Shriya engaging in such noble causes. This is really an inspiration to the youth.
