Narayanan Gurukkal Memorial Award for Santosh Sivan
Internationally acclaimed cinematographer-turned-director Santosh Sivan, who is now turning actor by playing the lead role of legendary Indian painter Raja Ravi Varma in renowned Malayalam director Lenin Rajendran's new period film titled Makaramanju, has been selected for the Narayanan Gurukkal Memorial Award, instituted by Kozhikode based C.V.N. Kalari.
Santosh Sivan was selected for the award in appreciation of his presentation of 'Kalari Payattu' and 'Kalari-system' of treatment to film viewers across the world. His film Ashoka had amazing scenes that triggered discussions among filmgoers about the advantages of 'Kalari Payattu' and 'Kalari system' of medicine.
The award will be presented by eminent writer M.T. Vasudevan Nair on the 51th death anniversary of C.V.N. Kalari to be held at Gujarati Hall on April 30.
