Adoor, Boney get lifetime achievement awards at Cairo fest

Renowned Malayalam director Adoor Gopalakrishnan and Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor have been conferred with lifetime achievement awards for their lifetime contributions to cinema at the ongoing 33rd Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) 2009.

The two were honoured during the inaugural function of the festival last week. Multiple National Award winning filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan has Naalu Pennungal, Swayamvaram, Kodiyettam, Mathilukal, Vidheyan and Kathapurushan to his credit. Kapoor has produced the hits Mr. India, Company, No Entry and the recent Wanted among others.

Notably, Adoor was the head of the international jury of Cairo film festival. His Nalu Pennungal, which recently won him the National award for best director, was screened in the non-competitive section.
