3 Idiots to be remade in Tamil-Telugu?

Bollywood comedy director Rajkumar Hirani’s mega blockbuster 3 Idiots, starring Aamir Khan, Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor, is expected to be remade in Tamil and Telugu very soon.

It is rumoured that two leading South Indian production houses were trying to acquire the remake rights and Gemini Film Circuit has bagged the remake rights of the film for a whopping 10 crores to remake it in all South Indian languages. (Remember, Gemini Film Circuit earlier brought the remake rights of Munnabhai also for a hefty sum.)

Meanwhile, rumours suggest that many top heroes in the South, including Madhavan and Vijay, are interested in being a part of the remake. Madhavan has already made it clear that he is open to repeat his role in Tamil as well. Suriya was rumoured to enact Aamir Khan’s role, but sources close to him say he may not do the role as he has no free dates in the near future.

3 Idiots is the highest grossing Hindi film in Tamil Nadu where it has managed to gross a record Rs. 1.65 crore from 22 screens in its very first week. National wide, the film is said to have grossed about Rs. 240 crore in just 10 days.

This Rajkumar Hirani movie is currently in the thick of a controversy with author Chetan Bhagat claiming 3 Idiots is heavily inspired from his book Five Point Someone and that he has not been given due credit by the filmmakers.
