1999 becomes Unakke Uyiraanen

Vijaykanth’s nephew Rajasimman debuts as hero in a film earlier titled 1999; now it is being referred to as Unakke Uyiraanen.

The reason for the change? With Sarathkumar’s film 1977 releasing soon, the makers of 1999 thought the public might draw comparisons between both the films and speculate about 1999’s story and content; both these films are as different as chalk and cheese. Sarath’s 1977 is an action bonanza and 1999 (now called Unakke Uyiraanen) is a love story mixed with typical commercial ingredients.

Keerthi Chawla (of Uliyin Osai fame) is the heroine of Unakke Uyiraanen which also stars newcomer Pudukkottai Ganesh. Eager to establish themselves in Kollywood, all the three lead actors of this film are striving hard to give their best.
