Kerala to act tough on complaints

Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan Thursday warned the Malayalam TV channels that the government will take stern action against reality shows which put the participants under unnecessary duress, despite the fact that the existing Cable TV Networks Regulation Act, 1995, does not have adequate rules for the welfare of the participants.

"Even though the rules are not strong, if we receive any complaints, we will certainly take action against the violators. We are aware of the fact that children and others who take part in these reality shows are tormented and we will take action against those who do this," said the minister to questions raised in the assembly.
