Homage to Sobhana Parameswaran

Footprints Of Cinema, directed by M.R. Rajan in memory of late Malayalam producer Sobhana Parameswaran Nair, will be screened at�Sree Theatre at 6.30 p.m. on Monday as part of the ongoing International Documentary and Short Film festival in Thiruvananthapuram. Sobhana Parameswaran recently died at a private hospital in Thrissur at the age of 83.

A press note issued on Sunday said that the festival will feature seven films of Supriya Sen including Way Back Home, which won many accolades at the international level. This film is about a couple who make a journey back to Bangladesh, 50 years after they fled to India during the partition.

Another film to be screened is View From A Grain Of Sand, depicting the social reality of women in Afghanistan during the last 30 years. It examines how war, international interference and the rise of political Islam impacted the freedom and rights of women, the press note added.

Other films to be screened on Monday include Word Within A Word, an inquiry into the tradition of devotion through the poems of Kabir and Gorakhnath, Moments With the Master, which speaks of the Sitar maestro Pandit Ravishankar, and Waiting Women, which tells the tale of two women who meet in a room.
