Ban over Dileep: Big clash erupting
MACTA, on the basis of a complaint from director Thulasidas, accusing that Dileep became reluctant to star in his film after taking payment of Rs. 40 lakhs, has pronouced a ban against Dileep. In a controversial move against MACTA (Malayalam Cine Technicians Association), film Producers' Council in Kerala, during their recent meeting in the state, has decided to support Dileep and his films notwithstanding the said ban.
The council announced that they were going to support Dileep in this matter and have even threatened to completely halt production of all films if MACTA, under Vinayan's leadership, didn't withdraw the ban. The Council claims that it has AMMA's support in this issue. MACTA has yet to reply.
From the actor's point of view, he is already busy with the much-delayed AMMA project Twenty:20 and has also had a series of flops in the recent past. In this context, would Dileep like to do a film with director Tulasidas, whose credibility as a hit filmmaker is very questionable? It is not clear whether Dileep was planning to quit his film.
However, reports say that MACTA and Producers' Council are now getting ready to clash over this issue. Earlier, MACTA, comprising 18 different sections of Malayalam film industry workers, right from drivers to directors, had denied media reports that the association had enforced a ban on all Dileep films in the state. Vinayan’s response to the media was that they had only forwarded the complaint to AMMA, but not issued the ban.
