Tribute to legendary Dakshinamoorthi

V. Dakshinamoorthi, a living legend of South Indian music, was honoured on Friday during a function 'Hridayasarassile' (In the Heart), held in the Sheikh Rashid Auditorium on Friday evening in Dubai.

The event, organised by Kalabhavan Dubai, also had some of the best singers of the Malayalam film industry like P. Suseela, P. Jayachandran, Vijay Yesudas, Madhu Balakrishnan and Swetha Menon performing some of the evergreen numbers of Dakshinamoorthi, who has composed music for over 125 films.

The event, organized as a charity to collect donations for a charitable group Cochin Cancer Society (CCS), which provides financial aid to poor cancer patients in Kerala, started with 89-year-old Dakshinamoorthi, who sang the evening's title song "Hridayasarassile", with Vijay Yesudas, son of acclaimed singer K.J. Yesudas. He then said that music is one form of worshipping god.

Noted Malayalam lyricist Sreekumaran Thampi and veteran singer Susheela, who were also present on the occasion, shared their long association with Dakshinamoorthi. The event was marked by the presence of a massive crowd of 1650 people.
