Sudheer, an associate of director Jayaraj has reportedly taken up the Bharathan-Padmarajan classic Thakara for a remake. Meanwhile Radhalakshmi, wife of Padmarajan said that shed is not keen on the remake.

In an interview Radhalakshmi said that she hasn't given the permission to remake the movie as yet as she feels that epic movies should not be remade in the same language. She has no objection of it being in any other language. Bharathan's wife Lalitha has also supported Radhalakshmi. She said she would support Radhalakshmi if she decides against the remake.
