By Uma [ January 24, 2012 ]views: (781)
What happens when one of the top directors in the Kannada film industry (Yogaraj Bhat) and Power star (Puneeth Rajkumar) join hands? The outcome is a great film titled Paramathma.
Paramathma is a typical Yogaraj Bhat film with lots of comedy, romance and sentiment. There is a bit of mystery thrown in for good measure. Like in all his films, Bhat has portrayed the hero in a different manner.
The Plot
Param (Puneeth) is a man who follows his heart. He earns a gold medal for his academic performance in BSc, but he barely scrapes through in the MSc course. He lives life on his own terms and does what he pleases. He dabbles in different fields ranging from trekking, to the share market.
He has a gang of friends which includes Sanvi (Aindrita Ray) and Pavithra (Ramya Barna), both of whom nurse a soft spot for him. While Sanvi openly expresses her feelings, Pavithra chooses to remain silent.
But Puneeth falls in love with Deepa ( Deepa Sannidhi) whom he meets in a theatre. Who will Param ultimately choose as his life partner? What happens next? That forms the crux of the film.
Analysis
Paramathma is narrated in flashback mode and this gives a unique feel to the film.
The first half moves slowly, but Paramathma picks up speed in the second half, except for a few scenes which hamper the pace. The twist in the climax is sure to surprise the audience.
Performance-wise, Paramathma is Puneeth's film all the way. He rocks the show with his comic timing action and dance. Among the heroines, it is Aindrita who steals the show. Deepa Sannidhi looks good and can act reasonably well. Ramya Barna is hardly noticed. Ananth Nag has given a classic performance in the film.
Hari Krishna’s foot tapping music and Santhosh Rai Pathaaje’s cinematography are the highlights of the film.
Verdict
Paramathma contains all ingredients for a super hit. It is a Dussera treat for audiences.
