Puneeth was born as the youngest son to Rajkumar and Parvathamma Rajkumar in the year 1975. He has two sisters and two brothers. His elder brother brother is Sandalwood Century Star Shivrajkumar, while his younger brother Raghavendra Rajkumar is a film producer. Puneeth married Ashwini Revanath and has two daughters Dirthi and Vanditha.

Puneeth entered Sandalwood as a child artiste for the film Premada Kanike. Puneeth won the National Award in the Best Child Artist category for the film Bettada Hoovu that was released in the year 1986. Puneeth appeared as a child artist in 12 Kannada films.

Puneeth made his Sandalwood debut playing the male lead in the movie Appu that was a blockbuster. The film ran for more than 2 years across Karnataka. Appu was remade in Tamil and Telugu languages as well. Puneeth’s Milana ran for more than 500 days and created a record in the Kannada film industry. The actor was awarded the State Award in the Best Actor Category for the film.

Puneeth is a multifaceted person and has sung in many films such as Vamshi and Jackie. The actor has knowledge about cinematography as well. Also, Puneeth is a great dubbing artist. The actor has dubbed for Golden Star Ganesh, in the movie Shyloo.

Puneeth is currently busy with the film Anna Bond, directed by Duniya Soori. The actor is also the host for the TV show Kannada Kotyadhipathi that is being aired on a private television. There are talks about Kannada remake of the Tamil movie Porali as well.
