Shivarajkumar's 99th film Mylari is a super commercial entertainer with love, sentiments, fights, thrills and excitement. It is a perfect blend of every element of life put together. Like his debut film Taj Mahal, director R. Chandru has captured people's attention with a strong dose of sentiment and engaged the audience throughout the film.
The second half drags a little bit but is nevertheless entertaining. Towards the end, there are scenes which are picturised very well and will surely create lot of audience interest. Cameraman Chandrasekhar has to be complimented for his excellent photography. Mylari is his 11th film and he has excelled in capturing the right images to match the storyline.
R. Chandru deserves praise for writing an interesting screenplay which is different and keeps one guessing. Mylari has lots of twists and turns which cannot be predicted, and so holds your interest throughout.
Shivarajkumar has shown tremendous energy in this role which calls for much variety, ranging from being emotional as a silent lover and neglected son to a loveable poet. The action sequences show him as a total hero. His looks and dances on screen are the envy of many youngsters of today's generation. Sada is impressive with her good screen presence. The 'Sukumari' song brings out her expressions which are likely to impress. Sanjjaanaa is good in a small role; her dance for the title song sung by Puneeth Rajkumar is top class. That dance and song is likely to remain in hearts of Kannadigas for a long time to come.
Gurukiran's music is super and goes with the scenes and sequences. The songs are also excellent.
Suresh Mangalore has come out with a superb performance as Shivanna's father. John Kokken as Sada's brother is excellent and is the pick of all the artists with his class fights with Shivanna. This is John's third Kannada release this year. His brotherly love for Sada and fights with Shivarajkumar are going to be cherished by viewers of Mylari. Bullet Prakash and Kurugalu Prathap have done good comedy.
Overall, Mylari is certainly one of the best films to hit screens in recent days, a great treat for Shivarajkumar's fans. For others, barring a few negative points in the beginning of second half, the film is certainly a cut above the rest, a real treat for one and all.
