'Vanavil'
revolves around the life of three I.A.S. aspirants - Surya (Arjun), hailing
from a village backdrop, Priya (Abirami), belonging to a middle-class
family, (though their house and style of living suggest the contrary)
and Prakash (Prakash Raj) born with a silver-spoon. While Surya is very
dutiful and dedicated, Prakash is a fun-looking person, having an eye
on Priya secretly, who is already holding the torch for Surya. While Priya
becomes an I.A.S. officer, Prakash turns an I.P.S. but Surya's results
get withheld owing to an old case relating to a village problem. Meanwhile,
Uma (Uma), Priya's younger sister commits suicide owing to a wrong result
published in the local newspaper, the whole episode planned by a notorious
youth. In a fit of anger, Surya attacks the youth who dies accidently.
Surya is put in the same prison where Prakashraj is serving as the Jail
Superintendent. On realising Prakash's true colours, Surya devices a clever
plan to outwin him as well as earn his acquittal.
The film has a lot of thought provoking moments, like the one in the railway
station regarding the unemployment problem. Arjun is good and so is Prakashraj,
Abirami is sad!
