Balu (Vishal) and Karthik (Raja) are college friends. After completion of college, Karthik’s mother who stays in Chidambaram requests Balu to visit them before leaving for his home town. Balu meets Hema (Meera Jasmine) who happens to be Raja’s sister. Hema is a very active and naughty girl who lives life the way she feels.
Karthik’s friends get to know Balu and they all become good friends during his 4 days of stay. Balu and his friends see a murder in the heart of the city of Chidambaram during one of their outing. All of them feel sad and emotional about the incident. The man behind the murder is the local dada named Kasi (Lal). During his stay in the city, Balu notices a lot of incidents like these. Hema’s father is very concerned and upset about the happening and wishes for someone who can put an end to these activities. Hema questions her brother and father on why THEY can’t do anything about it. Balu begins to notice her charms and her goodness in many small ways and falls in love with her.
Balu is ready to leave Chidambaram and he reaches the bus stand only to find that the city is on strike because of Kasi’s arrest. So he is forced to return to Karthik’s house. His return deepens the love between him and Hema. While he is finally leaving the city, he meets Kasi and witnesses another of Kasi’s illegal activities; the movie takes a major turn at this point. Kasi now wants to get rid of Balu, who is a material witness to his illegal activities, but Balu manages to get away.
Balu goes back to his home town (Madurai), where his father Durai (Raj Kiran) is a very influential and powerful man. Kasi gets Balu’s details and tries to get support from local dadas in Madurai but nobody comes forward because Durai is the most powerful man in the city. How Kasi plans to do away with Balu, how Balu quashes his villainy and comes out the true hero; how Balu’s relationship with Hema progresses forms the rest of the story. Vishal has done well in an action role in this movie, which is his second. Meera Jasmine has done her role excellently. Her role as a bubbly, vivacious, lively, carefree girl sparkles. The stunt scenes are commendable. Every frame has a lot of richness, obvious of the efforts by the team in giving us a wholesome entertainment. Music is well-created, and suits the scenes, mood and spirit of the movie. The touch of Director Linguswamy is visible throughout the movie.
It is a “must watch” entertainer for all with all necessary ingredients like Romance, songs, music, fighting, action, angry young man, etc.
