Ode to Sivaji Ganesan in Aasal

We are one step closer to watching the much-awaited Ajith starrer Aasal. The movie’s music was released just yesterday at Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan’s residence, much to the joy of Ajith fans, who have been eagerly lapping up every bit of info on this movie that is expected to release by the end of January.

The music has a very international feel to it and is absolutely different from the usual mass numbers that oneusually expects from an Ajith flick. However, since the music of Ajith’s Billa was also primarily very urban, it does not come as a surprise that Aasal does not have the regular 'kuthu' beats thatwere earlier the trademark ofthe Ajith-Bharadwaj-Saran trio. Considering that the entire Aasal team has taken pains to keep away from the boring mass-formula, and instead focus on a stylish treatment of the action script, it makes sense that the music is upbeat and international as well! After all, Thala plays a French citizen in the movie!

One track in the movie that needs to be noted is 'Em Thandhai'. “All that I told lyricist Vairamuthu was to right a song that would suit Ajith in the visuals and situation of the movie, yet be an ode to the unparalleled Sivaji Ganesan when listened to with your eyes closed. Thus was born the song 'Em Thandhai'. Every member of Sivaji’s family who listened to the number was moved to tears. The credit goes to Vairamuthu’s moving lyrics and Bharadwaj’s music,” revealed director Saran.
