RIP Whitney Houston

Famous American pop singer Whitney Houston passed away at a hotel in Los Angeles, on Saturday(11.02.2012). 48-year-old Whitney was undone by her long battle with drugs.

Whitney had a versatile career. Besides her singing, she made a name for herself as an actress and producer. She was also a model in her early days. The list of awards acknowledging her talents include two Emmy's, six Grammy's, 30 Billboard Music Awards, and 22 American Music Awards, with a total of 415 career awards by 2010.

Three years ago, the Guinness World Records announced that she was the most awarded female act of all time. Regarded as one of the best selling singers around, Whitney career histrionics matched the likes of Michael Jackson in terms of on album sales. Over 170 million copies of her albums have been sold worldwide.

It is indeed sad that this prolific singer passed away ne day before the biggest musical award show, the Grammys. Jennifer Hudson performed a tribute in Whitney's memory at the 54th Grammy awards ceremony.
